In cases where an ordinance calls for or requires that an action be taken or permit obtained, by way of illustration and not limitation a building permit, the failure to take such action or obtain such permit shall be considered a separate violation for each calendar day and a separate forfeiture may be composed for each day. To the extent that any penalty provision of the town is in excess of or violation of any currently existing or future enacted limitation, such penalty provision shall be amended to the maximum penalty provision permitted consistent with such limitation or restriction.
